Do those giant church bells amaze you?

You will create one when you complete an apprenticeship (Ausbildung) program as a metal and bell caster. 

Did you know that during the First and Second World Wars, people melted down a variety of renowned bells, as well as a variety of other metal things, to manufacture ammunition?

Manufacturing, repairing, and restoring metal parts and daily things is the primary responsibility of a metal and bell foundry trainee.

It includes church and ship bells, statues, fixtures, garden and park furniture, terrace railings, and parts for machinery.

If you want to create an object, you sketch it out, either by hand or digitally, and then build a model.

You melt the metal and then pour the burning mixture into the mould.

You are dressed in protective equipment from head to toe.

The final touches are polished and honed when the liquid metal has solidified and been removed from the mould. 

Did you know a church bell requires more than 400 steps to produce? 

To ensure that the bell will sound as intended in the future, calls on solid arithmetic skills.

As a metal and bell foundry trainee, you will divide your time equally between the business and the vocational school (Ausbildung).

You learn to differentiate, distribute, and handle materials and auxiliary materials, maintain equipment, or test and measure things. 

Requirements for a metal and bell caster under Ausbildung in Germany

• You should have both manual talent and artistic ability.
• You require a healthy dose of inventiveness and an eye for colours and shapes.
• You should be physically fit.
• Most trainers want to see at least a secondary school diploma.
• Your math grade is crucial.
• Your musical ear will also be helpful if you wish to focus on bell casting and art.
