ASU is a safe and fully accredited public institution of higher education with a wide array of academic programs designed to help its students prepare well for the rigors of a globally connected and highly competitive market place. Every student at ASU is assigned an academic advisor to assist in their academic choices and career decisions. Advisors are assigned to a student by the academic department of their chosen major and every semester prior to enrollment for an upcoming semester; students must meet with their academic advisor to discuss the courses they plan to take, academic concerns that may be prevalent, registration and relevant career / major information. Additionally the Wilson Advising Centre provides study skills assistance, tutorial support, and close monitoring for those who need additional support to meet their goals.

ASU has a rich and dynamic student life that helps international students make never ending friendships and create unforgettable university experiences. The new $44 million student union is home to many student events and activities, and it is considered one of the top student centers in the United States.

ASU has more than 200 student organizations to help students grow and develop beyond class room instruction. No matter what the students interests are he/she will have no difficulties finding a group that will help the student make new friends and assist in preparing for the future.

ASU’s $18 million student recreation center opened in 2010. This state-of –the-art facility features a multipurpose gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, indoor walking and running tracks, weight training and fitness rooms, dance studios and multipurpose activity courts.

The intramural program at ASU provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to participate in more than 30 structured activities for men and women, along with a number of co-ed recreational events. Arkansas State University competes in NCAA Division I, the highest level of competition for Universities in the United States.

The student Health Center offers an array of medical services, from treating minor illnesses and injuries to providing physical exams (mostly at no cost to the students). For severe injuries or medical conditions, students are referred to one of the two full-scale hospitals in Jonesboro. The staff of international programs is always ready to assist international students with filing health insurance claims for medical expenses.

ASU’s Career Services provides free employment services such as assisting students in finding on-campus jobs, internships, and job referrals. It also provides career services including career counseling, resume preparation, business etiquette, job fairs, and mock interviews to help students obtain well-paying jobs.
